- All groups are wellbeing-focused and/or therapeutic in nature, therefore a Thrive membership is needed before securing your space. This is a one-off 15 minute appointment to meet me and find if and what groups would best suit your needs.
- All groups can be attended weekly, every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks depending on your needs. This may change throughout your journey as your needs change.
- Members of ‘Thrive at BDT’ do not pay a monthly membership, only for the groups they attend and any additional one-to-one membership meets they feel they need to support their journey.
- All groups are 18+ years.
My Mind on Tasks (MOT)
A focusing, grounding space for busy minds to check in and ground themselves in order to focus on what’s really important, or next steps. Here I share activities and techniques* from my past experience as a mental health mentor, enabling people to breathe, take a step back, see through the mental clutter or stop avoiding when they have stuff they want to do.
For those experiencing:
- Feelings of stress, overwhelm, or feeling a bit lost.
- When life is more stressful than usual
- Busy minds or scattered thoughts
£10 – 1hr
Mondays 10am – 9 spaces
Wednesdays 9am – 9 spaces
*reminder for anyone who needs to read this: ‘rest’ is an important technique.
MAKING MAGIC
For decades, I have found my own comfort, grounding and support in the ritual and container that is known as ‘magic’ (or ‘magick’ in certain circles). This is a therapeutic group that pairs creative psychotherapy practices with those deep rooted in nature, symbolism, movement and images found in spiritual practices. Regardless of your spiritual path, you want to find emotional support and comfort in nature, magic that promotes resilience within yourself, you are welcome.
£13 – 90mins
Mondays 7pm – 8 spaces
WRITE MENTALITY
A creative and expressive writing group for people interested in ‘getting it all out on the page’. During my early years as a therapist, I worked as a creative writing lecturer, and became a bit obsessed with how writing our own stories (both fictional and non-fictional) helps us understand our inner worlds more clearly, as does dramatherapy. This is a therapeutic writing group to promote inner reflection and support, rather than the writing being ‘good’. Sharing is entirely optional, and feedback is only given on what we’re are focusing on: how it made us feel. Headphones are welcome, as are all mediums of near-silent writing (no audible keyboards please).
£12 – 90mins
Wednesdays 10.30am – 9 spaces
Wednesdays 5:30pm – 9 spaces
IT’S A VIBE
This is a therapeutic movement group dedicated to body positivity, confidence, and feeling good in your body. This includes checking in with feelings we hold in our bodies, which can be easy to ignore when life gets busy or our minds are full, and working with said feelings so we can feel more of what want to feel.
£11 – 1hr
Tuesdays 5:30pm – 8 spaces
Thursdays 9am – 8 spaces
CHARACTER BUILDING STUFF
£15 – 90mins
A drama group dedicated to exploring, acting, and creating characters in order to understand ourselves more openly, and have fun, build confidence and make connections in the process! Often we find comfort and understanding in the characters in our books or streaming services, but here we become them, or create our own! This is a creative therapeutic group for confidence, emotional awareness and expression rather than focusing on being a good performer.
Tuesdays 7pm – 8 spaces
Thursdays 10:30am – 8 spaces
NURTURE
When someone becomes a mum, they take on a new, important role. This is a creative, coffee-morning style space for Mums with babies under a year old to have the opportunity to be creative, or relax and share or listen with a drink, whilst we reflect on how this new role and identity is for you, and a place to reflect on your own needs. Your babies are welcome, we are currently fundraising for a play area for them in the room. This space is for you to fill your own (tea) cup, because, simply, when we can effectively care for ourselves, it increases our capacity to care for others.
£10 – 1hr
Fridays 9am – 9 spaces
SPACE FOR
£8 – 1hr
These relaxed, coffee-morning style spaces are for those who play certain ‘roles’ within their work. For some of us, we spend a great deal of our waking lives in these roles, so when we have obstacles and worries related to them, and those in our personal life can’t understand, it can feel a bit lonely. It can also be beneficial to have a space to reflect on said ‘role’ where you are never required to be in it, as this space is for you.
Together, we explore how we can use experience, networking, mutual support and signposting (all the while having the opportunity for creativity, or simply listening and/or sharing with a cup of tea or coffee). We focus on how we can support our own wellbeing whilst bringing our best selves to our roles. Here, you can express concerns and be supported by like minded humans.
