Here’s how Thrive at BDT works:
STEP ONE: Explore Whether Thrive Feels Right for You
Thrive is designed to be warm, simple, put-the-kettle-on style mental health support when it’s needed.
Thrive is not therapy, and it isn’t designed to replace therapy. Instead, it offers a softer, more flexible kind of support: soul‑food learning, creativity for the sake of it, and a community that can gently hold the harder moments of life alongside you.
Thrive is for any adults who:
• want space to be more creative and have a therapeutic space for their mental health and wellbeing, whether it be to find more joy or have a community to be a part of if life feels a bit uneasy or harder than usual currently.
• Are not in crisis, and are generally able to care for their own emotional and psychological wellbeing day‑to‑day, regardless if they have any diagnoses or not (all are welcome as long as we feel the groups meet your needs).
• Can engage safely and respectfully within a group (different groups have different participation levels).
• Want gentle support, grounding, creativity, fun or connection
• May be finding life a little more challenging than usual, or just want to build resilience, connections and skills
If you’re unsure whether Thrive or therapy would be the best fit, you’re warmly invited to get in touch.
Therapy or Therapeutic Services — Understanding the Difference
Thrive sits within therapeutic services, which are different from therapy.
They meet different needs, require different boundaries, and offer different levels of holding.
Because of this:
• If you are currently working with me as your therapist, or have done so in the past, Thrive is unlikely to be appropriate
• If you are receiving therapy elsewhere, Thrive can sit alongside it as light‑touch support, creativity, and community connection
If neither service is the right fit, I’m always happy to signpost you to other local options.
Creatively Flexible
Thrive is designed to be flexible, sustainable, and as affordable as possible while still offering consistent, containing spaces.
Thrive membership works on a Pay As You Book basis — there are no monthly fees.
To keep your membership active, simply book and attend one session every three months.
If your membership lapses, you’re welcome to re‑join at any time by booking another Membership Meet, as long as there is space within the community and the service remains the right fit for your needs.
Instead of monthly payments, Thrive uses late‑notice cancellation charges for:
• Sessions cancelled less than 6 hours before the start time
• Non‑attendance
Late-notice cancellation charges match the original cost of the service booked. Any cancellation charges will need to be settled before booking your next Thrive event.
Some Thrive sessions need to be block-booked to ensure members work with the same people each week. These need to be payable in full at time of the block start and are non-refundable.
This approach means that, even with the occasional late cancellation (because life happens), members usually pay significantly less overall than they would with a subscription, whilst protecting the space that was held for them.
It keeps the service financially sustainable while remaining flexible, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the people who make up Thrive.
STEP TWO: Book a Membership Meet or Consultation
Before joining Thrive, you’ll need either:
• A Membership Meet – a shorter conversation to explore whether Thrive is the right space for you
• A Consultation – a longer appointment if you’d like more time to talk through what’s happening for you and consider which service (Therapy or Thrive) could best meet your needs.
If you book a consultation and we both feel Thrive is appropriate, that consultation simply becomes a longer Membership Meet — there’s no need to book again. If you book a Membership Meet but therapy may be more suitable, we may need to arrange a separate consultation to explore this further.
STEP THREE: Attending Your Chosen Sessions & Joining the Community
If we both agree that Thrive is suitable for you, you’re welcome to begin booking any Thrive sessions that feel right for your needs or interests.
Before attending your first session, you’ll be asked to sign a consent form:
All sessions must be prepaid before they begin. You can pay online when booking, or in person before the session starts.
Doors open 15 minutes before each session to give you time to arrive gently — make a drink, settle in, use the facilities, and ease into the space.
To protect the privacy, grounding, and reflective atmosphere of the group, late arrivals may not be able to join once the session has begun.
Thrive sessions vary in tone and depth. Some are more group‑focused and connective; others offer quieter, more individual creative or grounding processes within a shared space. You’re welcome to choose what feels right for you.
STEP FOUR: Staying Connected
To remain an active member of Thrive, simply attend one session every three months.
If your membership lapses, you’re welcome to re‑join when space allows.
You can also book additional Membership Meets at any point. These are not therapy — they are a chance to:
• Check in about your engagement
• Explore which workshops may support you best
• Review your needs
• Discuss any concerns
• Receive signposting to other services if helpful
LEAVING THRIVE
You’re free to leave whenever you wish. You don’t need to give notice, though you’re welcome to let me know if you’d like to.
You’re always welcome to return if space allows and the service remains suitable for your needs.
